This Guitar:
Weight: 7 lbs 2.7 oz
Serial Number: 927314
This guitar is in excellent vintage condition. It was made in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The potentiometer code date to September 1970. There are few guitars as iconic as the Gibson SG. The SG (standing for Solid Guitar) was introduced in 1961. This guitar features a thinner body and a double cutaway design, making access to the upper frets significantly easier than on a Les Paul. Upon its release, Gibson advertised the SG as having "the fastest neck in the world!" Indeed, many of rock and metal's greatest players have used a Gibson SG to great effect!
The body and neck have a few scratches and small paint chips, but overall this guitar is quite clean for its age. All electronics and hardware are original. The binding near the first fret is cracked and has been glued back in. There is no headstock break. The vibrola plate has a few scratches on it. The cork inside the vibrola arm has shrunk with age, making the arm loose. The bridge pickup intermittently cuts out. In order to preserve the historic, all original nature of this instrument, we have not replaced the cork or re-soldered the bridge pickup. The neck is large and in charge with a volute that was added in 1970. The neck has all original frets and plays beautifully.
This guitar includes the original Gibson hardshell case in very good vintage condition.
