USED 1967-1968 Kent (Teisco/Kawai) Model 740 Electric Guitar - Sunburst

This guitar is excellent vintage condition. It was made in 1967 in Japan. The Kent Guitar Company was a subsidiary of the New York based Buegeleisen & Jacobson. In 1967 manufacturing shifted from Guyatone to the Hayashi Mokko factory and the quality of these instruments dramatically improved. Guitars from this two year period are highly sought after by collectors. If you were to judge these guitars from the catalogs of the era, it would seem these guitars were sold exclusively for hot rod enthusiasts and beach parties. The Kent 740 also made an important cameo in the hands of the ghost of Jerry Garcia in the 1998 generational classic film Half Baked.

This guitar is in very good vintage condition. There are scratches and small finish chips all over. 

The neck is in very good vintage condition. There is chipped paint on the sides of the neck near the fretboard between the nut and 3rd fret. The fretboard has significant divots from play between the first and third frets. The rest of the fretboard is in excellent condition with only a few small scratches. Frets have been professionally leveled and the instrument plays well up and down the neck. Some of the frets still have small divots, but overall they are in good shape. Headstock has some paint chips on the edge and scratches on the face. One of the tuning pegs is slightly bent, but is fully functional. Finish on back of neck has a couple of small paint chips and minor finishes scratches. 

All electronics and hardware appear to be original. The hardware has a patina consistent with age. The potentiometer codes all date between the 7th week and 28th week of 1959. The floating bridge has a small chip on one of the corners. All hardware and electronics are fully functional. 

Includes original chipboard case in excellent vintage condition. The interior has some wearing and tears and the edge of the case top is bent outwards. The structural integrity is there and all hardware is in good working order. Sale also includes vintage leather guitar strap.
